DeKalb County is a large urban county which includes a small portion of the City of Atlanta, as well as several smaller cities and communities including Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Clarkston, Decatur, Doraville, Dunwoody, Lithonia, Stonecrest, Stone Mountain, Tucker, and others.
DeKalb County is the fourth most populous county in Georgia and is widely recognized for its cultural richness and diversity. Located in the heart of metro Atlanta, DeKalb borders Clayton, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale counties, making it a central and well-connected region within the state.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the estimated population of DeKalb County was 770,307 in 2024. Data shows the county is 53.1% Black, 36.8% White, 10.8% Hispanic or Latino, 6.8% Asian, and 2.6% of residents are of two or more races.
